According to People Magazine, Rihanna ranks right up there among the beauties for this year including Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez.

The 19-year-old singer who recently released her latest title Good Girl Gone Bad featuring the single Umbrella, penned by Ne-yo told People: “The best thing about going without makeup is that it takes a lot less time to get ready.

“You don’t have to worry about mascara spilling or eyeliner running or about touching up during the day. You can wash your face at any time. You feel comfortable and free.”

Rihanna, also known for hits like SOS, Pon de Replay and Unfaithful, was featured under the Stars Without Makeup section of the magazine which showed celebrities baring their beauty without makeup.

Rihanna said: “I feel the most beautiful when I am in Barbados and I am well fed, well rested and well tanned”.

Return to main

RIHANNA, an unknown singer in Barbados three years ago, now finds herself among the Top 10 of the hottest young celebrity women in America.

That’s according to Maxim, an international men’s magazine with editions published in more than a dozen countries in Europe, North America and Asia, and whose editors and readers select the “hottest” women in the world every year.

The 19-year-old Bajan singer who has strong Guyanese roots is eighth on the Hot 100 list, ahead of such stars as Beyonce Knowles (13) Ashlee Simpson (16), Maria Sharapova (17), Kate Hudson (27) Shakira (38), Halle Berry (55), Jessica Simpson (41), Ciara (72), and Ivana Trump (83).

Best talent

In addition, America On Line (AOL) music has placed her atop its list of the best musical talent in the United States under the age of 21.

Making the Top 10 list are Lindsay Lohan, actress and party girl who is No. 1, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera, Ali Larter, Eva Mendex, Rihanna, Eva Longoria, and Fergie. Eva Longoria was the winner among the Most Popular Young Women in 2005 and last year.

As for the AOL music list of 21 Under 21, she was chosen by 80 per cent of AOL subscribers while the artiste coming in second, Miley Cyrus, received 60 per cent of the votes. Others included on the Under 21 list were Chris Brown, Kellie Pickler, Hilary Duff, Bow Wow, Joss Stone and Paola Nutini.

“Thanks to her inescapable ’06 hits SOS and Unfaithful, Rihanna went from a mere Jay-Z protégée to an undeniable chart-topping R&B powerhouse,” stated AOL.

As AOL Music editors explained it, Rihanna, christened Robyn Rihanna Fenty, “emerged initially as an unknown superstar, known more for her song than for herself”. That song, Pon De Replay, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Chart in 2005.

In the two years since then, her songs – If It’s Lovin That You Want, Unfaithful, We Ride, and Break It Off, Umbrella and Hate That I Love You – have kept her on the popularity charts.
