Soka Junkie places third in St Lucia

July 24, 2008

MR DALE continues to do well with Soka Junkie.

The reigning Tune-Of-The-Crop and People’s Monarch placed third in the Caribbean Soca Monarch competition in St Lucia on Sunday.

He finished behind St Lucians Ricky T and Isla Man, who finished first and second.

“The response was real good, man. It’s just that most of it was real up tempo, power soca . . . . I can’t complain. Soka Junkie has done me well.

“To come third in an environment like this with all the local boys and local support, it’s like winning,” he told the DAILY NATION from St Lucia on Monday.

There were 11 contestants from various islands in the region.

Soka Junkie placed second in the Party Monarch competition last year, and has also been nominated for four awards in the upcoming International Soca Awards on October 18 in St Kitts.

Mr Dale returns home today, and will be preparing for his performance at Sunday’s Party Monarch competition at the Calypso Bowl. He has drawn position 16.
