$120M for Trini Carnival

January 1, 2009

The sum of $120 million is being given to the National Carnival Commission (NCC) to run Carnival 2009, Minister of Culture, Marlene Mc Donald, announced at yesterday’s post-Cabinet news conference at the Office of the Prime Minister.

As a result, the Minister said she does not expect the national fete to be affected by the global economic slowdown.

“It is noteworthy,” she declared, ” that in the 2009 Budget, the sum of $120,680,858 has been provided for the National Carnival Commission. This sum includes provisions for the three Carnival interest-groups Pan Trinbago, the National Carnival Bandleaders Association, and the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation.”
